Albany Preschool Enrollment

How to Apply
Applications for the following year will be available at the school and on this website starting December 1. Applications can be submitted any time after December 1, but no applications will be reviewed until the last Saturday in January when Albany Preschool will hold it’s annual Open Enrollment at the school from 10am to 12 noon. Applications can be mailed, dropped off at the school or emailed as an attachment to enrollment@AlbanyPreschool.org. If emailing your application the appropriate Enrollment Application Fee must be received before your application will be considered.
Application Requirements
Tours: A tour of Albany Preschool is required to complete your enrollment application. You can take the tour before or after submitting your application. See tour information
Age requirements:
Age requirements: Children must turn 3 years by September 1. Albany Preschool is a two-year program for children prior to entering kindergarten. The preschool follows the same age cutoff date as the Albany Unified School District in order for children to start kindergarten upon graduating from Albany Preschool.
Application Process
On the last Saturday of January all applications received by that date will be:
- sorted according to the 5 Enrollment Priority Categories listed below, then
- randomly assigned a numerical order within those priority categories,
- and lastly, open spaces will be filled in numerical order going down the five enrollment priority categories listed below.
Applications received after the last Saturday in January will fill any remaining spots or be added to the wait list. Families are notified of their enrollment status by the end of March. The wait list is good for the school year that you have applied for and does not carry over into the following year.

Five Enrollment Priority Categories
- Returning students from the previous year
- Siblings of previous-year students, in good standing
- Children of former preschool families who left in good standing within the past 5 years.
- Albany residents new to the school
- Non-Albany residents new to the school
Tours
A tour of the preschool is a required part of the application process. Parents are welcome to bring their child(ren) to observe the school in session. The tours are typically 45 minutes and are a great way to get a sense of how your child responds to the environment.
Tours can be scheduled for the following days of the week:
Wednesdays at 1:30 pm
Thursdays at 10am

Tuition
Fees: A $40 (for one program) or $60 (for two programs) Enrollment Application Fee must accompany each application. Upon acceptance there is a $225 registration fees deposit required to hold your spot. This non-refundable deposit consists of the following: (1) $50 Work Security Deposit (refundable at the end of the school year), (2) $50 Building Maintenance Fee, (3) $55 Scholarship Fund contribution (4) $10 Earthquake Supply Fee, and 5) $60 Materials & Enrichment Fee.

Two days/wk (only available to AM families): $275

Three days/wk: $707

Financial Aid and Scholarships:
If a family cannot afford to pay the full tuition, Albany Preschool will make every effort to create an arrangement making it possible for their child to attend the school. Some scholarships are available and are limited to no more than 50% of the cost of tuition (and will likely be less).
